The end is in sight!!!

Well we had another awesome weekend of work at the house and I am so happy to say that the end is finally in sight...well at least for the inside of the house. :-)
After the cabinets were installed last week, dad and mom spent a lot of time at the house getting some things ready for the weekend.  Dad finished trimming out the openings to the sunroom and kitchen and mom cleaned the whole house.  It looked so good going into the weekend!
On Saturday, Ronny and Treva came back out and we began work right away.  We needed more trim paint and some primer, so while Treva and I waited for the guys to come back from Home Depot, we worked on pulling up some weeds and bushes in the front.  This turned out to be a lot harder to do than we thought and boy were we glad to be done and go sit with our feet in the pool to cool off.  It looks so much better though.  I can't wait to add some bark in there and finish landscaping it for this Summer.  After the guys returned from Home Depot, Treva and I began primming the MDF boards in the den/kitchen/sunroom areas while Kenny and dad got the baseboard and quarter round back down in the sunroom.  Ronny began working on sheetrock work (of course) and painting.  Treva and I finished primming then began putting a second coat on the trim in the sunroom.  While we were doing this, dad and Kenny were able to get the trim and beadboard up under the bar area.  It looks AWESOME!!!  I am very very happy with it!  After I finished in the sunroom I had to leave and get cleaned up.  Whitney and I went out to Greensboro to our friend, Tracy's, wedding.
Sunday I returned to the house and saw that the trim and beadboard had been primmed and painted.  Treva was finishing painting the trim we primmed the day before, Ronny was painting the ceiling in the guest room upstairs and mom was cleaning our shower like it had never been cleaned before.  Between the three of us, Ronny, Treva and I were able to knock out all the trim upstairs this weekend, including the doors.  All that lacks as far as trim is a small area of baseboard and some chair rail that needs to go back up in our master bath.  Also, the downstairs hallway trim needs to be painted.  Other than that we are done with painting trim!  Thank gosh!  Also on Sunday, dad and Kenny got the recessed lighting covers up and added the crown for the kitchen ceiling.
Going into this weekend all we lack is painting the few misc. trim places I mentioned and finishing sanding and painting in the den.  There are touch-up places that we will hit throughout the house, but we are waiting to get the furniture in and do a final "walk-thru" to touch places up.  We heard from the countertop guy and they should be installed either this Friday or Monday!  I cannot wait!  We are having our tile floors sealed on Monday night and our appliances will be delivered and installed on Wednesday of next week.  Then Friday we are having the den, upstairs guest bedroom and stair carpet replaced.
The thing I am most looking forward to this weekend is moving furniture finally!  Kenny and I are planning to start moving stuff on Saturday morning.  We could definitely use help if anyone has some free time on Saturday! :-)  As of right now it's going to be me, Kenny and Sam doing all the moving.  We are hoping to get the dining room, office, downstairs bedroom and Rae Rae's room setup.  Then next weekend we'll move the other guestroom, den and master bedroom stuff.  I cannot wait!
Here are some pictures from this weekend:

We have CABINETS!!!!

47 days after ripping out our old kitchen cabinets we finally have our new ones!!!!  I have been looking forward to this day for so long!  Yesterday the cabinets were delivered and stored in our garage.  This morning the guys showed up to install them and it only took a few hours.  As soon as they were done, mom called me and I rushed over to see them.  I thought I was going to cry with joy the whole way to the house.  They are so beautiful and I am beyond happy with them!  Tomorrow the countertop guys will be out to measure and hopefully those won't have too long of a lead time.  I cannot wait to start setting my  kitchen up!
Now for the pics!!!!! :-)

The countdown to the cabinets!!!

In order to be 100% ready for the cabinets this week we had a lot of things to wrap up this past weekend.  Friday night we didn't work on anything.  Instead, Kenny and I hung out at the pool with Branson, Jennifer and Raymond.  The temperature in the pool was finally up to 78 degrees, so it felt soooo good!
Saturday morning started off a bit rough.  Kenny cut his big toe open on his right foot Friday night and after attempting to get up and work he finally agreed to take the bandaids off and let me look at it.  One look told me that he needed to go to the doctor.  So we left dad working and went over to the urgent care place to have his toe looked at.  The doctor got him taken care of pretty fast and then we went back to the house.  Kenny could barely walk on his foot, so he wasn't much help for dad.  While we were gone, dad was able to get the siding back on the house in the back where they replaced the den windows.  He also started trimming out the bar opening on both the kitchen and den sides.  We wrapped Saturday up earlier than usual so everyone could go to the Fuller Family Cookout.  Unfortunately, Kenny was in so much pain that he just wanted to go home (to Winder) and prop his foot up.  So we enjoyed a nice evening at home.
Sunday we headed over to the house and gave mom her present.  Whit, Kenny and I all went in and got her a new camera.  I think she was pretty excited about it!  Now I'll just have to teach her how to use it. :-)  After opening her gift, we went up to the house to work.  We got a lot done on Sunday and I am very grateful that mom was willing to work all day on Mother's Day.  I worked on painting the baseboards and quarter round in the office and the dining room.  Those two rooms are now 100% done other than some touch up painting and cleaning the floors good from all the sheetrock dust.  Kenny stepped up and took the place of "sheetrock man" this weekend and worked on a lot of different areas in the house.  Dad trimmed out the windows in the den and the window in our master bathroom.  Then he trimmed out the door going from the den to the kitchen.  It looks so good and I can't wait to see it all caulked and painted!!!!  Since Kenny was still in a lot of pain, we sent him to mow the yard since he could just sit and not be on his foot.  The yard is really starting to green up and look a lot better than it did.  I really wish we had more time for landscaping, but right now we only have time to work inside the house.  While Kenny was mowing, mom worked on getting our master bath 100% ready for the cabinets.  Kenny had done some sheetrock work in there before going out to mow and he also removed his vanity so mom worked on cleaning it up and painting the trim and beadboard.  The bathroom is now ready. After wrapping up the day, we went back to mom and dad's house and enjoyed a wonderful steak dinner.  Nanette came out to join us for dinner and I was so excited to get to show her the newest changes in the house.
The next big thing that will happen will be the cabinets coming in!  I cannot wait!  They are being delivered tomorrow and will be installed on Wednesday!  Then we have our countertop guy coming out to measure on Thursday.  It is all coming together and I can't wait to see the cabinets in the house.  It will really start feeling more complete to have them.
Thanks again to dad and mom for all your help this weekend!

The windows are in!!!!

I know I already updated once this week, but since we got more done between Sunday and today I decided to update again.
Tuesday afternoon dad went and picked up our new windows for the den and that night he and Kenny put them in.  I am so excited!  They look great so far and I know that once they are trimmed out they will look even better.  The only thing that lacks being done in the den now is finishing the window trim, some sheetrock work on that wall and painting that wall.  Then once we are done with all of that we will have to wait until we replace the carpet.  Don't want to chance it getting dirty while we are working in the house still.
Also on Tuesday, mom went ahead and shortened the blinds in Audrey's room, our room and the other bedroom upstairs.  They look so much better!  I painted the doors in the upstairs guest room while she did that.  It's amazing how much better the doors look with just a fresh coat of paint on them.
I am also very excited that we only have 6 more days until our cabinets are installed!  Wooohooo!!!
Here are a few pics to show off the new windows, what a difference they make!

That's all for this update!  I'll be ready to update you all again after this weekend!

Still going strong!

Well we are into the 2nd month of renovations and are really starting to see an end in sight.
Friday morning dad and Kenny went ahead and added the salt to the pool....400 lbs. of it!  During the day on Friday our tilers came out and fixed a place in the kitchen floor that was sticking up slightly.  They also replaced the tile in the upstairs shower that we had to remove to fix some plumbing problems.  I am very happy with the shower, they did a great job of matching the tile up.  It's amazing how hard it is to match white!
Saturday we got a lot done.  Dad, Kenny and Ronny were able to get the kitchen ceiling up and Ronny put 2 coats of primer on it.  I am really happy with the ceiling.  It looks GREAT!  While they were doing that, Treva and I knocked out the trim in Audrey's room.  I prayed really hard that the trim fairy would show up and paint it all for us...but no such luck. lol.  I really do not like painting trim.  However, we were able to get Audrey's room done and now her room can be added to the DONE list. :-)  Treva and I also went ahead and put a coat of paint on all the quarter round so that once the guys put it in the house we wouldn't have to get way too low on it and chance hitting the hardwood floors.  We had planned on replacing the windows in the den this weekend, but unfortunately they did not come in.  So that project will be done this week or this weekend.
Sunday Ronny and Kenny caulked the kitchen ceiling and then Ronny painted it.  Mom, Treva and I put the second coat of white paint on the judge's paneling in the dining room.  While we were doing this, dad and Kenny began laying the quarter round and then Kenny caulked it.  The humidity was very high on Sunday, so we weren't able to paint the quarter round, but once we paint the baseboards in the office and dining room they will both be on the DONE list.  YAY!  A few hours before lunch, Ronny and Treva had to head out for a birthday party and mom had to go to work, but we were able to get the first coat of paint on the trim in the sunroom before she left.  I spent the rest of the day painting some doors and trim in the upstairs bedroom and then took a break to relax in the pool before mowing the yard.  I did not push mow it this time, I have learned my lesson on that one.  Kenny and Dad worked on getting the guest bath upstairs put back together.  They put the beadboard back up and chair rail.  Then they added the crown molding and Kenny caulked everything.  I was able to put a coat of paint on the beadboard behind the toilet and then they set the toilet.  It is so nice to have that room put back together.  I also bought a new shower curtain this weekend for that bathroom and am very anxious to hang it up.  Dad and Kenny also added a step coming out of the sunroom onto the deck.  Thank gosh, now no one will break their neck coming out of that door!
We also realized this weekend that we have a "pet" snake that is living in our pump house.  I am not thrilled about this AT ALL...but Kenny is because it's a King Snake so he'll keep all the other snakes away.  I don't care what kind of snake it is, they all creep me out.  Needless to say, until Fred (that's what we named him) leaves, I will not be going near the pump house.  So please don't ask me to! haha.
We also got word at the end of last week that our cabinets are going to be delivered on the 11th and will be installed on the 12th. I am sooooo anxious to see them!
Thanks once again to mom, dad, Ronny and Treva for alllllllllll your help.  I promise one day you all will have your weekends back. Also thanks to Whit for keeping us fed!

The pool, yes that is one of the main drains in the deep end!  Words can't describe how awesome it is to be able to see the bottom in the deep end.  2 weeks ago you couldn't see the 2nd step in the shallow end!  (Also if you look closely you can see a few pebbles in there, compliments of Grayson Michael, lol).
